10 WOODWORKERS 10 CHAIRS
I had such a privilege to be able to donate my time to end ALS through photography. There is something so special about that and it made the project so natural. Enjoy one shoot from the event for the chair created by Becca Howard.
Show Us Your Seat is an exhibition featuring woodworkers along the Front Range who will design and build a chair in honor of those who have fallen ill to ALS otherwise known as Lou Gerhig's Disease. ALS is a motor neuron disease that causes rapidly progressive muscle weakness. Specifically, the disease affects nerve cells that control the muscles that enable you to move, speak, breathe and swallow and there is no cure. Why a chair? Mobility is often the first to go with those suffering from ALS so the chair and the hands of the woodworkers who build them represent that loss. Visit the website here.
"Incorporating a piece of life was very important to me..."
The raw aesthetic of the entire shoot really inspired me that beauty can come from anything and anywhere.
